Jennifer and Geonna letting go of some nerves following a memorable competition in the discus where both throwers smacked down the Region II record. Jennifer's throw broke a 16 year SHS school record.

The Region II Championship Meet once again featured great competition and the Valley's season long opponent-   The Weather!   Glad to be dry for most of the meet, Valley tracksters competed in cool temperatures at Turner Asbhy. Three Valley teams finished top 10 in both divisions in a meet where National phenomenon Sarah Bowman(soph) of Fauquier won 4 events and set three region records. Special Congratulations to Region Champion Harrisonburg's 4x100 relay team of Owah, Murphy, Knight and Hinton, Shot Put Champions Nathan Turner and Jennifer Showker of Spotswood, and Harrisonburg's Nautica Coleman- Triple Jump Champion. The Valley's continued domination of Vaulting showed, even in the rain as Valley Sky Jumpers placed 10 of 12 places in the vault. It may be the largest vaulting contingent from one district in the history of the state meet. Freshman Eric Slowinski qualified as the fifth Blazer vaulter and Four from Turner Ashby. On to States!!!
