The Valley District Championships Spotswood High School Wednesday May 15th
	Once again the District Meet featured great performances, surprises, lots of excitement, elated parents and proud coaches. Warm weather with gusty winds early gave way to a cool evening in eastern Rockingham but didn't stop record performances. Track patrons saw a closely contested girls meet where The Turner Ashby Knights' distance pack overcame Spotswood Blazer sprinters and field events to win the championship. In the Boys meet The Harrisonburg Blue Streaks held off the determined Fort Defiance Indians and Turner Ashby for the trophy. Megan Mlinarchik (West Virginia bound) set a new meet record in the girls Pole Vault edging Spotswood's Kristen Summers who also vaulted over the old record. Mlinarchik also won first places in the long jump and the high jump. Turner Ashby's relay Boys(Corey Shull, Michael Billington, Daniel Radloff, Matt Miller) edged Spotswood (Mark Rinker, Jordan Jarrels, Steven Knight, Chris Heitz) in the 4x800 relay in which both teams broke the district record. Tai Blakey of Turner Ashby tied the record in the Girls Triple Jump.
