Like, dude, like, nice threads, wow. The Surfer guys brought us

800meter excitement all season long.

Someone tie down the starter before the wind blows him away.

Purvis had a great season, as did Tlax.

Meet help was just glad to sit down after working the discus on the dark side of the moon at JMU stadium.

Lynnsey had a great season vaulting.

No, valley fans this is not Julia Roberts. Sarah Bowman (a junior) spanked all in Virginia who stepped to the line against her. Valley fans continue to watch this national class runner and perhaps one day

... a U.S. Olympian.

Thoughts on a long season...

At valleytrack.org we are happy and proud to once again, bring you the valley track excitement this season.

The photographer (being a throws coach) regrets not being closer to the track and the early meet events. We are still looking for digital photography help and are grateful to the Neil Family for all contributions this season.

Track is a very unique sport where a young person builds all the positive traits that any parent, teacher or coach would hope to see young people develop. While zealous AAU and club sports programs have turned our children into mercenary semipro athletes at 10 years old, middle and high school track continues to shine as one of the most character building sports a young person can participate in.

Youth track athletes are a special breed where delayed gratification and discipline prevail over hype, priorityless parents, and marketing pressures.

Bev Good once told this writer...

"Track and Field gives you no place to hide and all the opportunity to grow as a person while you compete head to head with those you respect".

Thanks to all the Coaches in the Valley District for the thankless and

long hours you have put into building our leaders of tomorrow.
